Juan Calderon Peralta
Juan Calderon Peralta born in Santiago Chile in 1959, is a self taught artist, impressionist style painter. At a very early age he was distinguished as a born draftsman, fully entering the difficult art of watercolor when he was barely twelve years old. In his early years, his themes focused mainly on capturing typical places in Chile (his native country), to later evolve to the oil technique, where his loose and enveloping brushstrokes, full of strength and color, begin to shape what it would be his more mature style.His works have been exhibited in major galleries and salons across the country and beyond. His talent has allowed him to show his works in Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina; leaving high the name of Chile as a worthy representative of national artHe masterfully recreates iconic scenes and places from different eras, his great and latest creations portray the departure of pioneers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their exodus from the Midwest to Utah Territory, these works tell the story of faith, courage, love and suffering of those pioneers.
